Sabre Dev Studio
Sabre’s developer portal is portfolio of APIs/services and tools that allow developers to build travel apps. Dev Studio powers both business to consumer (B2C) and business to business (B2B) applications.
UX Challenge: One of the top findings on Dev Studio of Usability testing was site content’s navigation. Solution was to research, design and test a new Information Architcture for organizing, structuring, and labeling content in an effective and sustainable way.

APPROACH
The resulting product, IA map and top level mega menu navigation helped reduce our customers findability time by about 40%. We are still on the journey to build, measure, and learn about how we can improve the product. In 2020 this product is nominated for Best Developer Portals. Fingers crossed!
OUTCOME
Current content grouping posed to be a challenge for DevStudio users. Initial usability testing reflected that users failed at finding information and understanding the logic and grouping of the content. This increased time on task at hand for them
CHALLENGE
Based on user’s feedback (previous Usability sessions on DevStudio) we had learned that findability and grouping was an issue on DevStudio for it’s users, users were lost looking for certain documentation and labels didn’t mean much to them.
To alleviate this user pain, we undertook the journey of redesigning the Information Architecture First step was to look into what research methodology will help us achieve this. We brainstormed and decided to go with two activities - CART SORT and TREE TESTING using optimal workshop tool. Tree testing also gave us the opportunity to talk to our users about the overall structure of the site for the ones that were tested in lab.

Based on Usability studies, we summarized it as to what users were able to find and struggled with.
Also there were additional findings on the content of the API’s and documentation that were passed to the API teams.

After gaining critical insights about our users and their problems post synthesizing data from usability studies, I wireframed few alternative menu solutions. Did Guerrilla testing to get users preference, “Mega menu” surfaced as the solution.
Menu Wireframe: Quick testing was done to validate the grouping before hi-fidelity mokups were to be built
Post wireframe review + full content mapping, hi fidelity mockups were worked on, The design process for this was a very fast paced, exciting time.

Hi-fi Mockup: Screens were designed in Sketch + Anima to create interactive mockups to be delivered to dev team

To ensure ongoing user feedback is obtained, as designs are not one time done and shipped. I use Usabilla tool to collect ongoing feedback and have designed several campaign for those feedback at different touchpoints.
